Collaborations

Jimena Vega

One of my favorite artists to collaborate with is my partner Jimena Vega. We often combine her spellbinding visual art and poetry with my music and audio production to create audiovisual narratives that captivate audiences, reconnecting them to their hearts, their roots, and the Earth.

Below are a few of our collaborations.

Mujer Condor

“Mujer Cóndor is an archetype of feminine energy that invokes power, strength, justice, and sovereignty. Along with her ally, the serpent, she flies over the Andes mountains setting free all peoples/el pueblo from borders, colonization, capitalism, and patriarchy to pursue a life of dignity and sovereignty aligned with ancestral knowledge.”

When Jimena exhibited the sculpture version of Mujer Cóndor at Guttenberg Arts in June 2022, I created an audio to help immerse the viewers in the Andes above which Mujer Cóndor flies.

This audio is a collection of recorded voices of the Ecuadorian protesters in June 2022. These were the citizens' demands to the government, which, to this day, haven't been heeded. The audio is comprised of interviews recorded by @luisherrerafoto, music from the @humazapas, interviews from Dolores Cacuángo and Mamá Transitory Amaguáña.

Entretejida/Interwoven

Jimena’s first show Entretejida/Interwoven opened on May 6th, 2023 at Guttenberg Arts. I performed an extended version of my original composition featured in the video above, accompanying Jimena as she read an essay about discovering her Andean roots.

Minio Class

During 2020, piano virtuoso and dear friend Minio Class took to recording song after song that he had kept to himself for years. First through email sessions and then through live sessions, I helped Minio by recording bass and doing some audio production on a handful of tracks that would eventually become the album La Viveza del Sonido. It was one of my most fun projects as I got to watch Minio blend together Latin, jazz, and a range of other influences into an unapologetic expression of self.
